| From the gay village, the beach is only a few minutes' walk away, as is the city centre.
Kemptown boasts gay pubs, gay bars, gay cafes and gay businesses of all kinds.
Just off St James's Street, the great gay highway, is the Marine Tavern. You can walk down the road from there to the trendy A-Bar, formerly the Amsterdam bar, club and sauna on the corner, or up a block to the equally trendy Legends bar and club. Both have started attracting the hens, though, who are followed by their roosters. Both have cabaret shows on a regular basis.
Round the corner, in Camelford Street, is the gay Camelford Arms pub. This is a friendly, traditional gay pub, where you can have a conversation without having to lip-read.
Half-way up St James’s Street is the Bulldog pub, a bit raunchy, but always interesting - and open round the clock at weekends. The Zone Bar is a few steps farther up the road and has a strong Lesbian following. The Star Inn and the Marine Tavern are in parallel streets. The Prowler gay sex shop is on the corner of Broad Street and St James's Street.
Across St James’s Street from Broad Street is George Street that boasts the Queen’s Arms, and, opposite, the bearish King’s Arms. On the corner with Edward Street is The Jury's Out, catering mainly to Lesbians
You want karaoke? Ya garrid at the Aquarium Bar.
Lesbians are particularly welcome in The Marlborough, The Jury's Out on the corner of George Street and Edward Street, and the Revenge Club with its "Girls on Top" nights
Transister at the Charles Street bar caters for transsexuals and drag wearers - many of them gay.
Eating out should be fun, and fun is what Brighton is about and St James’s Street boasts plenty, many of them gay-owned.
And there are other gay and Lesbian venues, cafes and shops only a few paces away from your accommodation.
No need to find a taxi when the bars close.
